Travel to Chile has increased a great deal in the last fifteen years, connecting travellers firstly with its Capital, Santiago, due to the fact that this city is the flight terminal for guests coming mainly from Europe and Oceania, especially by World Travelling Backpackers. They come from places like; Australia,New Zealand,Ireland,England,Switzerland,Germany,Italy,America,Brazil,Argentina, just to name some. They come to see such touristy places as Valle De La Luna in The Atacama Desert area, up North, or to Parque Nacional Torres Del Paine in the South_ in The Patagonia region, or Pucon; if you like The Lakes Dististrict, where you have beaches ,fishing or even small game hunting. Others prefer Isla De Pascua (Rapa Nui) also known as Easter Island near The Polynesian Islands. Others simply take a bus to the nearby Valparaiso and ViƱa Del Mar _,about an hour and a half from Santiago_ towards the coast to get a taste of one of its most famous Chilean seaports and one of the most popular beaches and summer vacation spots for the Santiago locals in that same order.
To most places mentioned above you can go year round, except maybe for the the southern ones, where you would preferably go in Summer time, unless you are a Winter and snow person, because you can go skiing at Termas De Chillan for example, which is s ski resort located at about a two hour flight down south from Santiago or an 8 hour bus ride away. In Winter Season Skiing is also available near Santiago in The Andes Mountains at Ski resorts or ski lifts like La Parva, Farellones or Valle Nevado. Many Brazilians come ski in Winter time (June, July ,August ) and so do skiers from the Northern Hemisphere or Europe in their off season.
